Poll: IL Voters Say Don't Touch Local Government Distributive Fund. We Ask America conducted the poll of 2,970 voting households on May 15, 2011. The following are key findings:

80% favor the local share being returned to their local communities as required under current State law vs. the State keeping it;
-
88% reject the notion of paying higher property taxes or cutting local services in order to pay down the State’s deficit; and
-
69% believe State lawmakers should find deeper cuts in spending before trying to use local tax dollars to balance the State’s budget.
