The Will County Governmental League (WCGL) is a not-for-profit association comprised of 29 municipalities and the County of Will. The League is organized for the purpose of providing a means for members to cooperate on all matters of public concern. It provides a medium for mutual problem solving and serves as a spokesman for major regional issues. Specific programs are described below:

Legislative & Intergovernmental Program
The Legislative & Intergovernmental Committee proposes policies and initiatives on state and federal legislation affecting municipal and county governments. League members have the opportunity to participate in the legislative process of the Illinois General Assembly through an annual trip to Springfield, seminars and meetings with legislators. This Committee also serves as a forum for intergovernmental dialogue on major topics affecting municipal and county governments in Will County.

Transportation Program
Through the Transportation Committee, the WCGL administers the Surface Transportation Program (STP) for the Will County Region. The Committee annually reviews and makes recommendations for funding local transportation improvement projects. The monthly Committee meetings provide an opportunity to develop regional transportation strategies and disseminate information including the current status of highway and transit projects.

Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC)
The SPC is a purchasing program comprised of the WCGL and three other suburban councils of governments. The mission of the SPC is to provide public agencies with quality goods and services at competitive prices. Product lines include municipal vehicles, office furniture and supplies, vehicle stickers, animal tags and telecommunications services.
